This was an anti crack campaign, it won a few awards, and these same pictures kept appearing in newspapers for years afterwards.
I put blisters on her hands and lips and added dark roots in her freshly bleached hair. I also darkened her skin under her eyes and in places on her body to accentuate her naturally thin frame.
It looked authentic, there were some very concerned looks from the passing public as she sat on the floor outside the movies in Sandton City. Mission accomplished 😉
I Studied make-up and special effects in 1993, and still get excited when a booking comes in. I'm glad I made a few good choices in my life, doing make-up for a living was one of them. I love my job!
