Set your heart free, then have the courage to follow it…

The make-up department takes a whole different approach to reality television.  Natural, real and 100% in keeping with the individuals own characters.  Make-up takes low priority on reality shows, but still remains an essential ingredient to a polished production.

  Lola, la la la la Lola, the most colourful sharp shooter of all – her make-up was fabulous with or without me!
   Sam and Pierre, so close and both smiling…  a rare sighting indeed.  Okay, I admit, it was planned and I’m sure it was hard for both of them, but I knew a shot of them together would be once in a lifetime.  Definitly worth it!!

Whoever selected this group from all the applicants certainly had a good eye, Andrea is fantastic both behind and in front of the camera.

I also loved getting to know this unique and rather wonderful group of people who put themselves on the line for this show.  I think it took huge guts to participate and I take my hat off to all of them.

Brendon went off so soon.  I would have liked to see more of his pics and some of the others too, like Kwena, another talented artist with a camera.

The purpose for Make-up on reality shows is to help polish the overall look of the program.  I go with a natural feel on everyone.  If they do their own make-up, I go with that, all I do in those cases is neaten up and blend, etc. so that they look as wonderful as possible and completely within character.  It really is reality, their look and their character is what matters.  Action doesn’t wait for make-up, it happens regardless.  Quite different from advertizing where make-up is a priority and has nothing to do with the model or actors personal style and everything to do with the clients brief.
