This dramatic big car driving on top of two parked cars attracted quite an awesome crowd of onlookers from inside Burger King and surrounding shops.

Though our spirits were high and we really enjoyed it, the work was physically challenging, bending over Blanca in a confined space for a few hours.

Difficult to see in these low-res web-photo’s, but there were subtle changes between every stop frame, mostly twirling the hair between every shot, other changes included building up the make-up by adding layers of gold, then gloss then sugar to the lips, and adding glitter and diamante sparkles to the eyes, a little more between every shot.

Our favourite editor Alastair ventured out of his edit suite for the day and played a vital role, ‘head cookie twirler’.  Jeremy in the background directing the twirl

Blanca was the perfect model for this.  Not only did she have the right temperament, (a diva wouldn’t have coped) but when we did the auditions, we knew that we needed to have a good, natural hairline and long hair, knowing that the hair would be pulled back.  Many of the models had weaves and things that would have been really difficult to work with.

There were some serious layers of make-up right there!  wow!

Nice to have the opportunity to get colourful and crazy. I would have liked to have gone out of the lines a bit, down the cheeks, etc with the sprinkles and sparkles, but the clients kept me inside of the lines.  

My back-ache melted away into gratitude.  It was a good day.

Sarah was a good sport, being a model for stop frame animation is no joke, it takes time.

Even though these pics are fairly low res, if you look really carefully you will see the subtle changes to the make-up between each shot, I also tweaked the hair between shots to create the animated effect.

Though it’s difficult to see on these low res (for internet) photo’s, you can start to see the pearls I stuck on the highlighted area’s round the eye’s and the hundreds & thousands that I placed on the lips, these were all built up gradually between the shots.

We could call her candy with those sugar lips. Now that I think of it, that might be the sugar rather than the hundreds & thousands.  We did both…

The look changes to purple….

And the layers start to build, glitter and diamante on the eyes and hundreds & thousands on the bottom lip, soon to arrive on the top lip too.  Seriously caked on – perfect for a birthday

Jeremy Briggs and Mike Toivonen getting the cupcake positions to match the previous shot after the hair and make-up tweak.  Absolute precision, patience, commitment and a strong back are requirements for the job.

Yay!  Sarah’s on her feet again ready to do the final shot, phew, that was a long day, but totally worth it!

  Such a pretty home studio Nkhensani works in, lovely backgrounds for us. There’s Annie doubling up as producer and photographer.  That’s what happens when you’ve been in the business for so long, there’s not a whole lot Annie can’t do.

Foghound sent a small crew to shoot this in a night club bright and early in the morning.  Shew the smell of stale smoke and toilet freshener was quite gross.

The three or four guys in the ad all tried to impress the beautiful girl, but their efforts fell on deaf ears, all she wanted to do was go shopping.

Anastasia plays ‘unimpressed’ very well.

Filipe has such a clue with wardrobe, he’s definitely in the right job.  Also super helpful, only too happy to pick up a straightening iron and help get the make-up department up to speed.  Thanks Dude! These two girls were really fab, note the cute hair-do’s, thanks to Kohl my hair-do’s last way longer these days!!  Fun in the sun, we won’t tell anyone when we really shot this and how not sunny it wasn’t  😉 secret’s safe with the fake Xmas fairiesThis young lady did not smile unless that camera was clicking, but boy when it was time to perform she knew what to do!  watch out Hollywood!Pity I had my hands so full on this shoot, I would like to have taken more pics.  Petra looked so fab in some of the scenes, I only took photo’s on the last day and this pic doesn’t do her justice.  Hope to see her beautiful face againI always enjoy our Durban friends who come up to shoot game and freeze their buns off in Jozi.  We provide good entertainment, but I think we should throw in a few blankets next time.Fake moms and daughters having some real fun Just another day at the office…I love love love these two girls – they’re just sooo on the wrong side of the camera back here  Who wants a prezzie?  (add sound effects & turn up the volume!)
